Entering into the global market requires the consideration of operations many levels. Knowing the challenges ahead will prepare a business to function successfully. This reading will cover human resource management and cultural factors, information technology, research and development, and legal and ethical challenges to Veolia’s entry into the global market. Considering recruitment, communication, growth and taking care of people are all stabilizing issues for any business. The challenge becomes more complicated in the global arena.
Human Resource Management
For Veolia Transportation human resource management is simple. The entry strategy into the global market is the acquisition of small transportation companies. This entry comes with its own team that has already successfully functioned as a transportation entity. Veolia’ HRM would only need to incorporate the Veolia strategy of recruiting and training the best qualified applicants that have a sincere commitment to provide exceptional transportation services. Veolia also offers excellent benefit packages to all it locations around the world. Finally, employees of Veolia Transportation will have the opportunity to take advantage of promotions in various areas of transportation. The history of Veolia’s staff has provided growth through executive management status. Most of the supervisors and managers at Veolia Transportation began as bus operator. The greatest asset of Veolia’s human resource management strategy is the team will know the language, the laws, and the recruitment strategies of the local economy. Established HRM teams also have credibility. Maintaining the local team will allow Veolia to train managers to become familiar with the business culture of the company.
