Legalizing Marijuana

I am opposed to the legalization of marijuana. While many state that the legalization of medical marijuana will help bring us out of the economic recession, I think there are alternative routes. One reason is because if they were to legalize it then adolescents would be the ones to abuse the substance. If alcohol and tobacco are mostly abused by adolescents then, you bet, adolescents would abuse that as well. If they wanted to legalize marijuana for medical reasons then go right ahead, but they should give those who need it for them to numb the pain caused by some sort of disease then they should be given an ID, administering that they need marijuana to survive so please let them have in their homes and allow them to smoke it. Whether it's a general change in attitude or a result of the recent economic recession, drug laws that have been in effect for more than 40 years may soon go up in smoke. Also marijuana is not necessarily the kind of a drug that you can get hooked on to. I mean you could get addicted if you were a long term user, but if you are not then you are not going to get addicted to marijuana. You might say that well it contains so many chemicals that it can harm your body, and defect your organs, but isn’t that what smoking a cigarette could do to as well? So there are some things that can allow us to legalize it, but I still think that there is not really a need for it anywhere. I know that you will start ‘craving’ it but that is beside the point. In other words marijuana is illegal and that’s the way should stay because it is not helping in way, form or fashion. I really didn’t take much interest in this subject one because marijuana is not a huge part of my life. This would matter to those citizens that are really living this situation other than that it is not really something that matters to me. I just don’t want people to be smoking overall.
