Introduction

Notre Dame University is growing year over year due to affiliations with internationally known universities, thus the number of students attending NDU is rapidly increasing. A big number of these students drive their car daily to campus. Therefore all parking areas, specially the open parking, must be carefully monitored and evaluated.

To ensure that the Notre Dame University’s open parking area is being operated as effectively as possible.

Purpose and scope

Specifically, the following problem was addressed in this study: What are the opinions of Notre Dame University’s student regarding their open parking area? To answer this question, the following sub problems were addressed:

1. How knowledgeable are the students about the situation in the open parking?

2. What improvements, if any, would the students like to have added to this area?

This study attempted to determine students’ needs only. Whether or not these needs are economically achievable is not within the scope of this study.

Procedures

A list of 8000 registered students was generated from the last registration process. A 30 person sample was selected. On December 20, each of these students was sent a questionnaire. A total of 30 students completed the questionnaire for respond rate of 100 percent.

The primary data provided by the survey was then analyzed to determine the student’s opinion on this matter.

FINDINGS

Latest observations have shown that Notre Dame University students are knowledgeable about the road situation in the open parking. Thus, the students were asked to rate their level of acquaintance with each obstacle the may face. As shown in Table 1, most students have faced these...
