Abstract

This paper will talk about how smoking can affect a person respiratory system and organs. There are many people who smoke on a daily basis but are not aware of the deadly toxins that they are putting into their body and the harm that they are doing to their organs.

Cigarette Smoking

A well healthy respiratory system is to help protect and keep individual from inhalation smoke, dust and any other harmful substances. The respiratory system is consisted of three parts which are: mouth and nose, trachea and lungs. We as individual’s intake air from out mouth and nose. The nose is our way of in taking air. Smoking does not only increase the risk of a person getting lung cancer it is also connected to heart disease and/or stroke. The U.S. Surgeon General has determined that breathing any amount of secondhand smoke raises the risk for many health problems (Clarke). There are so many toxins that can be found inside of a cigarette as well as the smoke that comes the cigarettes. There are over 4000 chemical substances and more than 400 toxins in a cigarette smoke.

When one cigarette that contains 4000 chemical substances are released into the air an individual system is affected. The nicotine that contains several of chemicals works against an individual body. A person throat and bronchial can be irritated if he/she inhales smoke whether it is first or secondhand smoke. When the chemicals from the cigarette travels down the throat it can cause sore throats and pain when someone first smoking.

The cilia are microscopic hair-lie projections on specialized cells lining the tracts inside the body called the epithelial cells (Szamocki). If the cilia is unable to carry out toxins, the 4000 chemicals will enter directly into the lungs.
