Banning of Cigarette smoking in the Philippines due to its negative effects: A meta analysis

Abstract

The researchers conducted this study to help inform people about the numerous ill-effects of cigarette smoking to their health. The group gathered data through meta analysis to discuss and evaluate the number of people who are affected by cigarettes smoking, the active smokers and the passive smokers. In general, the study is to open their minds to the possible outcome of cigarette smoking to their health that can cause death. Banning of cigarette smoking in the Philippines is a big factor to lessen the number of people affected by cigarette smoking and through this, they can give better treatments to their health. Many people nowadays do not think about the worst effects. In this paper, the researchers will be discussing the purpose of banning cigarette smoking in all public places by giving them the knowledge about the negative effects of smoking and making them value their health.

Background of the study

Tobacco is one of the major causes of death. Almost everyone knows that smoking is dangerous to the health and that it can cause respiratory, cardiovascular, maternal and many other illnesses. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) 2009 report on Global Tobacco Epidemic, it is said that Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable deaths and it estimates that more than 5 million people each year worldwide are getting killed with this. Also WHO estimated that almost one-half of the world’s children population is getting exposed to smoke from the billions of adults who smoke and its majority exposure take place at their homes (Avsar, et al.,2008).
