Relative Key Factors in Team Behaviors

Defining the essence of a "team" is a necessary first step in the creation of a value system that reflects team concepts, team behaviors, and team accountability. In turn, these same measurable values provide a framework of principles on which team interactions are based, and against which the program's effectiveness will be assessed. This paper relates and expresses a concept of team behavioral principles, the goal of which is to help guide healthcare leaders, providers, group teams, and patients through communication to help accomplish applicable, high-ranking team-based health care.

Concepts and Behaviors

Concepts: According to the findings of several researchers, teamwork is an essential role for building better performance in an organization. When applied in the workplace positive team interactions between leaders and staff create an atmosphere of successful outcomes, less absenteeism, and a reduction in turnovers. (Salas, Bowers, & Cannon-Bowers, 1995).

Behaviors: Marks et al. (2001) found that to accomplish team goals groups relate better when members’ skills and their efficient resources are applied, this type of behavior associates with the individual’s interactions which makes task completion more effective and less stressful; most team interactions are based on perception, phonological, and the members’ interdependency. According to Rousseau (2006), behaviors do not apply to a certain concept, but a structure of dutiful- linked collective behaviors, which include the commitment of the team, cooperation among collogues and exchange of information in order to quantify team behaviors. In addition, Costa states, “Trust is regarded as a very important factor”. (Costa, 2003).
