When thinking about the title court administrator it may be easy for an individual to automatically assume paper; however, upon further review it is not. The court administrator is responsible for the day-to-day tasks that keep the courthouse operating properly. Court administrators must also have great management skills with the ability to lead and assign work to other staff members. Other functions that are part of the administrator's job includes Management of the jury, court finances, the collection of fines, the case flow management of all the different courts within the courthouse, and the management of records. Although it may be thought that a courthouse cannot have any issues and if so it could be fixed with no problem. There are a number of barriers the court system face everyday which includes: the volume of cases in the court system, diversity of judges, language barriers and availability of court-interpreters, and attorney-related issues. The issue this paper will address is the language barriers and the availability of court-interpreters.

As the population in the United States continues to increase at a much faster pace than predicted so does cultural diversity. Having a broad culture creates challenges within the criminal justice system; for example, different moral and ethical beliefs which may be the most important and the language barriers the criminal justice system face each day. With the United States being the most-welcoming country, society has become more diverse, and it is critical for the criminal justice system to have the proper skills and training to ensure the rights of all.

Without personnel who can properly translate for individuals involved in criminal matters it puts a burden on the court administrators who are responsible for making sure everything operates properly. Language barriers began with law enforcement because they are the individuals who make the...
