Communication is vital in every situation in order to convey message. Various ways and mediums are used to deliver the information to reach the intended audiences. There are few key steps in the communication process to fulfil audiences’ requirements.

Firstly, the sender should have an idea on what to communicate. Kellogg’s created a plan to communicate the significance of breakfast to designated target audiences through a multi-platform campaign (The Times 100, 2014). This first step is about determining the goal of what to achieve in communication. This is an important starting step in the communication process as it determines the effectiveness of the communication right here depending on the nature of the idea and the motivation of sending it (Bovee & Thill, 2014). Kellogg’s clear objective of idea helps them achieving more than one goal if possible.

Second step is encoding the idea into a message. Kellogg’s responded a message of the importance of breakfast clubs to parents, schools, the UK government and the public, as a result from the idea of its research which was; many schools were in financial problems of funding their breakfast clubs due to latest budget cuts by the UK government (The Times 100, 2014). In this step, Kellogg’s team must focus on developing the skills needed to create the effective message by successfully encoding it. Wrongly encode the message will get the audiences wrongly interpret the idea.

Next step is choosing the right medium to transmit the message effectively. Electing the right tools of business communication can enhance it in many ways for every situation (Bovee & Thill, 2014). Kellogg’s came out with different mediums to approach different audiences.
