Book Item Monitoring System and Sales Inventory

Chapter 1

1.0 Introduction

Book Item Monitoring and Sales Inventory System is a software application designed for bookstore business that monitor and track ingoing and outgoing book item’s data. This system is capable of monitoring inventory levels, record what sales have been made, monitor what products are sold, eliminates pricing errors and monitor the levels of book item. It also monitor and maintain all factors that affect the inventory at the specific product level.

We students of the University of the Visayas, College of Computer Studies, decided to conduct a study regarding on this topic for us to fulfill this subject IT 315 (System Analysis and Design 2). In this subject, students are given the chance to study a specific system of their chosen business in order for them to know how to create a system and to come up with the design that solves the problems identified all throughout the study.

UV Bookstore is still documenting the data of every book item being sold out and being receives by them from the suppliers in a manual process. They are still on process of writing the book item’s data on the daily inventory sheet and by the end of the week, they finalized it for the weekly inventory. And because of this particular way of manual practice, they cannot immediately entertain their customers/students especially those in hurry.

Our ultimate goal on this feasibility study is to help businesses who are still using manual system. Let them be one of those businesses who are using high technology nowadays and help them improves their system such as minimizing their burden, manpower and time in processing this kind of business.

In order for us to achieve these goals, we need to collect enough information on what we needed for this research study. We groupmates must have our full cooperation, patience, time and mind.
