Social Networks: Honda Center and Anaheim Ducks

Social media is the new modern way to market a company, team, etc. Using social media is a way to connect with people all over the world. Many professional sports teams and popular venues have their own social media account so they can post updates and pictures of what is going on with their team or upcoming events at their venue. It is also a great way to engage with their fans by responding to feedback or doing things such as a contest or giveaways for the fans.

The Anaheim Ducks are doing a tremendous job with their Instagram account. Especially since it is the playoffs right now for the NHL, the Ducks are focusing on their fan base and are doing things to get the fans involved. They always post updates on the scores, taking pictures of fans in their Duck gear, etc. They keep up to date with their Instagram, which is good because fans will always see a post from the Anaheim Ducks at least once every day or two. I really like how the Ducks are using a hashtag for the playoffs called #PaintItOrange. They go around places to see people who are supporting the Ducks and like to take pictures of their fans and use their hashtag. The Ducks also put orange shirts around different areas and take pictures of the shirts on fans or statues and tag #PaintItOrange. I think they do a great job of also posting videos on Instagram, they show the players getting ready before the game so it gives that exciting and emotional feel to the fans that get to watch the video. It makes the fans more involved and makes them feel like they are apart of the team by watching these behind the scenes videos. I don’t think there is much to improve on with the Duck’s Instagram, they are doing such a good job right now. Instagram is big on the followers, which means if you have a lot of followers on Instagram, then most likely you are going to get a lot more people liking a photo or a video.
