2.1 INTRODUCTION

In this chapter, the researcher focuses on the four independences variable and one dependence variable. This chapter consists of introduction, dependent variable review, independent variable review, conceptual framework, hypothesis and conclusion.

2.2 Women entrepreneur.

Women entrepreneur can be define as self-employed individual, who starts, organizes, manages, and assumes responsibility for a business, which in turn offers personal challenge that several individuals prefer over working for someone else as employees (Segal et al., 2005).

2.3 Mentoring

Mentoring can be define as a relationship whereby a more experienced person provides development assistance and guidance to a less skilled and experience individual (Kram, 1985). The promotion of entrepreneurial skills and the enhancement of entrepreneurial behavior through mentoring interventions are often incorporated into a broader framework. Mentoring could be considered as “outside assistance” (Chrisman and McMullan, 2000, 2004) that could potentially aid women entrepreneurs to overcome the barriers they face.

Based on the (Sarri, 2011) research in Mentoring Female Entrepreneurs which is a mentors’ training intervention evaluation. The purpose of mentoring is to learn from the experience of others and, as a means of providing training, it can accommodate entrepreneurs’ preference for applied, just-in-time and experiential learning (Barrett, 2006; St-Jean and Audet, 2009).

According to (Pawson, 2004), in his literature review on mentoring relationships, he suggests that it pays to use mentors who have “been there and done that”; Hall (2003) argues that successful mentoring requires some key features such as: screening of prospective mentors, matching of mentors and mentees on relevant criteria, pre-match and ongoing training; and frequency of contact.
