EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

An interview was conducted with Ms. Paul reference a workplace experience that she had with a prior employer. Her employment started off on a very positive note, and she was quite happy there. What started out as helpful behavior aimed towards her co-workers in the name of teamwork and good will, eventually turned in her being a people-pleaser, quick to take over someone’s tasks just to get the job done right and on time. Withdrawal behaviors from Ms. Paul began to take root as well as resentments. This paper examines the causes of this situation, the effects on Ms. Paul and her job satisfaction, performance and motivation, as ultimately, her commitment or lack thereof to the organization began to a falter.
