Subject: Affirmative Action Plan

Date: November 7,2010

It has come to my attention that the level of attitude in our company is less than positive and it is causing an unhealthy working environment. With my recommendation, I think that the Board of this company should consider implementing and maintaining an Affirmative Action Plan to make sure that all employees receive equal opportunities for job advancement. With this policy in action it should establish specific standards to prevent discrimination against any employee based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or veteran status. With all this in mind we also have to remember that the action policy needs to be in compliance with all equal opportunity laws and regulations. The main reason for the affirmative action policy is the principle of equal opportunity, which holds that all persons have the right to equal access to self-development (Encyclopedia of Small Business, 2010).

The results of an individual that is being discriminated against based on class or category goes against the belief that America is the land of opportunity. By considering the affirmative action plan, it will show the employees that we are attempting to correct and prevent further discriminatory actions. A thorough study of this organization will provide the information we will need to begin starting an effective affirmative action policy that will ultimately ensure that the workforce of this company is diverse, adequately trained, and promoted equally.
