Assignment #2: Annotated Bibliography

1. Choose one of the topics from the list your class selected.

2. Introduction: This will give an overview of the topic you intend to research. It should be 1 or 2 paragraphs and it should:

a. Provide a brief context for the topic (perhaps explain why it is important)

b. Provide an overview of your research plan: what sources do you already have, what kinds of sources/information do you think you need to find

c. Be 500 words long.

3. Bibliography: This is the list of potential sources you will use for your Issue Analysis (Project 4). Your bibliography should:

d. Be alphabetized by last name of primary author or, if there’s no author listed, by title

e. Provide a full and correct bibliographical entry for each source in MLA style (https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/ )

f. Contain 5-7 sources. At least 3 should be from scholarly journals. They must all be from credible and reliable sources.

g. Be double-spaced

4. Annotations: each bibliographic entry should be followed by a 3 to 4-sentence description of the source (essentially an analysis of the rhetorical situation). This should include:

h. 1 or 2 sentences summarizing the article’s content and main argument

i. 1 sentence describing author’s credentials, purpose, and audience

j. 1 sentence explaining how the source is valuable or useful for your project.

M 10/13 Annotated Bibliography Due
