The Impact of Budgeting and Budgetary Control on the Performance of Local Council

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study was to investigate on the impact of budgeting and budgetary control on the performance of local government council. Research questions were formulated to guide the investigation. Research question (1), what are the impact of budgeting and budgetary control in local council while research question (2), how does council budget budget affect the performance (external image). This study was a research study using a mixed method research design. It was carried out in Buea Municipal council. Data were abstained through a questionnaire and personal observation. Data were analyzed using simple percentages, tables and pie charts. This shows that Buea Municipal council is not a profit making organization but it is out to make sure that the society needs are been put to place thereby ensuring that streets are well cleaned refuse collection are done daily to avoid mosquitoes etc, but were not enough to hand. I also carried out some safety practices, but trained workers were not adequate enough. Recommendations of the study include questionnaires of more maritime safety equipment’s as well as the employment of more trained personnel’s. The government of Cameroon should also enforce regulations concerning maritime safety in maritime transport.
