1 Introduction

1.1 It’s About ‘YOU’ Now

Yes, ‘YOU’ were named as the person of the Year by the Time Magazine in 2006. Apparently you are important now. It’s not about who saved a war or a bomb being built, it’s more about who is the real king maker. The World Wide Web is no longer a place to buy roses and send them to your grandma, its more about how you connect with people and find out which are the best places to buy those roses. However, you, the consumer has existed since eternity, so why this sudden barrage of tools, jargons, web applications and business around you? This report tries to discuss this in the following Source: Time.com way. This report explains in brief this very wave of technologies which aim to connect you to the world and give you the power to shape the future. It explains the jargon ‘Web 2.0’ and ‘Enterprise 2.0’ in brief, going on to explain its uses and importance in a business. This report uses the Dell’s IdeaStorm campaign as a case study to discuss the business impact of web 2.0 on a company. The marketing Adoption model is used to understand more about the way dell collaborated with the users and made sure the users adopted this model.
