The Contrast between Online and Traditional Classrooms

Many of us have had the opportunity to have attended school in our lifetime where we had to be in a certain classroom, at a certain time. Many times we barely made the bell as we slid into our assigned seats hoping the teacher wasn't noticing us. That was the old days. In the classroom of this day and age (2014 plus) we have access to online college courses where we set our arrival times, and there is no worry about the teacher noticing us as we slide into that assigned seat.

There are both pros and cons when we look at this type of classroom. It is my belief that when enrolled in an online classroom, one must allow much more individual time, to learn and study class material. Time management becomes imperative, and a schedule must be adhered to. The online student cannot interact, and get immediate feedback from the instructor, or a classmate. It is necessary that the online student learn and study the course material individually, and seek assistance from the University and other available resources. As well, an online student generally does not have any classmates sitting next to them, nor do they have an instructor immediately available for feedback pertaining to the subject matter, so they must allow for time in the day to study, to be successful.

Managing Time

We all have things that we do during the day: Some people work at home jobs; some people may work on the night shift; many of us have schedules that we keep during a regular week. When we think about our schedules as online students, it is imperative to set an allotted amount of time each day, to review, study, and follow course requirements.
