1. How does Trader Joe’s design jobs for increased job satisfaction and higher performance?

Trader Joe applies its pursuit of value to its facet of its operations by focusing of natural ingredients, inspiring flavors, and buying direct from the producer whenever possible. By buying from producers Trader Joe is able to keep its costs down thus saving costs which they pass on to their customers. They also limit their stock and sell quality products at low prices. Trader Joe also connects with its customers because of the culture of products knowledge and customer involvement that it’s’ management cultivates among store employees. They also maintain their employees by offering benefits such as dental, medical, vision insurance and competitive pay packages.

2. In what ways does Trader Joe’s demonstrate the importance of each responsibility in the management process – planning, organizing, leading and controlling?

Trader Joe’s puts his money where its mouth is, by doing so he pays his employees way more than their counterparts at other chain grocers. Trader Joe’s nurtures their employees with a promote-from-within philosophy, so each employee is encouraged to taste and learn about the products and to engage customers to share what they’ve experienced. Future leaders are encouraged to enroll in training programs such as Trader Joe’s university that foster in them the loyalty necessary to run stores according to both company and customer expectations, teaching managers to imbue their part-timers with the customer-focused attitude shoppers have come to expect.

3. Describe the methods that show Trader Joe’s knows the importance of human capital.

Trader’s Joe makes an effort to acquire qualified personnel and retain them. This is done by offering education – Trader Joe’s lets his future leaders to enroll in training programs at Trader Joe’s university so they can learn how to manage his stores.
