Personality Tests Questionnaire

Dr. C. George Boeree of Shippensburg University boasted, “Correlational research in personality usually involves the creation and use of personality tests. The scores from these tests are compared with other measurable aspects of life, as well as with other tests. So we might create a test for shyness (introversion), and compare it with the scores on intelligence tests or with ratings of job satisfaction. Unfortunately, measuring attributes doesn't tell you how they work or even if they are real, and many attributes resist measurement altogether.” (“The Ultimate Theory of Personality: Personality Theories”, 2006, p 9).

I have taken the Jung Personality Test and Tickle’s Original Inkblot Test and they are quite different. The Jung Personality Test is objective. Tickle’s Original Inkblot Test is a projective test. I find the Jung Personality Test to be the more accurate of the two. This is because I have a strong perception of my own personality. This made it easier for me to shape my personality traits truthfully. My rating was ESFJ – “Seller”. This type is sociable, nurturing harmony and likes to act as host or hostess. It represents 12.3% of the population. Tickle’s Original Inkblot Test seems more vague and open to interpretation due to the abstractedness of the test images.

Trait-Personality Theory is at the heart of the Jung Personality Test. The theory for this test classifies each individual as having specific traits that are evident in their personality. There are sixteen traits used in this test. Psychodynamic Theory is the basis of Tickle’s Inkblot Test. This theory views behavior as resulting from the psychological dynamics of our unconscious (Morris and Maisto, 2002).
