Work Breakdown Structure Manchester United Soccer Club Tournament

1. Make a list of the major deliverable for the project and use them to develop a draft of the work breakdown structure for the tournament that contains at least three levels of detail. What are the major deliverables associated with hosting an event such as a soccer tournament?

The major deliverables for the Manchester United Soccer Club tournament would be obtaining sponsorship/generating funds, finding a place to play the tournament and setting up the rules and regulations.

The tournament sponsorship would help with funding and the possibility of providing financial aid to the players that cannot afford the $450 annual club dues. Also, the suggestion of selling tournament t-shirts, and sweatshirts was a great idea to raise money.

Locating a place to have the tournament would be a major deliverable. The club is already seeking funds to refurbish and expand the number of soccer fields at the complex, so I would contact other locations for use. I would contact large complexes like local colleges or sports arenas to donate their facilities.

Last but not least, setting up the rules and regulations would demand the search for qualified referees and a team to agree upon the rules prior to the tournament. A sub-deliverable I would list under this would be the agreement of medals or trophies for the winning teams.

2. How would developing a WBS alleviate some of the problems that occurred during the first meeting and help Nicolette organize and plan the project?

Developing a WBS would definitely assist Nicolette with organizing and planning this tournament. It would give structure to the process of hiring qualified referees, deciding what kind of awards to give out to the winners and locating a soccer field. Providing the list on paper would show the members organization and purpose of what needs to be accomplished to get this tournament going.
