Introduction

Company E is premium private footwear manufacturer that has two plants in North America and Asia-Pacific, and produces enough material to operate facilities in four regions of the world: North America, Europe-Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America. As of 2013 Company E is currently ranked fifth overall among all of their competitors. The case study will analyze the internal and external environment, explore the strategic direction, and provide recommendations, and an implementation plan.

Internal Environment Analysis

Company E’s has many strengths as well as weaknesses when analyzing the internal environment. To start, Company E provides assurance of good citizenship through the human resource department, which enforces ethics training. Training all employees of the ethical code helps them to better understand how to handle problematic situations. Company (E) promotes good corporate citizenship through the operations department. The operations department establishes a workforce diversity program and incentive pay. This ensures that they do not have any prejudices towards certain people, which help maintain an efficient workplace. By the end of 2013 Company E spent $1,050,000 in total expenditures for social responsibility and citizenship.

Since Company E’s is a new and upcoming company, the knowledge and continuous learning about the athletic footwear industry is a key strength. Having the workers steadily watching all of the reports: industry footwear, competitive intelligence, and overall operations enables the company to make more accurate and understanding decisions on what to improve yearly. Therefore, the workers are able to indicate where the majority of their products are sold so Company E can distribute their product properly.
