Comparing Teacher Standards

Today there are many different standards that all teachers must be able to learn from both the government and the state. Not only is learning the standards from both federal and state important, but also being able to apply them in the classroom is important. The Department of Education helps in making those standards and makes sure they are implemented in the classroom by all teachers. Standards in our classrooms will give teachers the guidelines to what students should be learning at each grade level.

No Child Left Behind (NCLB), National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and the standards from each state, my state is New Mexico State Standards (NMS), and the Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC). All the standards given by these groups play a big part in what requirements that teachers should be following while giving instruction to students. They all serve the same purpose and that is to make sure that students are learning in the classroom.

The main purpose for these standards is to understand the qualities of becoming an exceptional teacher. When you look at the professional standards of each of these organizations, you can see the similarities they share. The purpose for the similarities is to make sure that teachers take their profession seriously and understand how important teaching is in our society. Combining all the different standards will help teachers gain more knowledge in their field.

The Department of Education is always looking for the best tools and resources that can help teachers in their profession. By using these resources, teachers can work on making learning in the classroom successful for everyone involved. Each standard and procedure sets up ways for teachers to improve daily.
