Google’s Information System Strategy

Abstract

Google was developed to generate revenue by getting people to use the Internet more. The system is able to attract so many users because the model is actually able to detect the user’s interests, allowing advertisers to come in contact with them. This research examines the strategies Google has used that is associated with the success of the company and explains the organizational structure that also contributes to its success. Google uses such strategies as enticing users by making its utilities affordable and always current. The organizational structure is also used a prominent strategy that is different than most companies. The management is a flat hierarchy system that is always being reorganized to ensure productivity. Other strategies Google uses are also mentioned. However, because the constant change in the technology environment, Google must continue to innovate and bring in new ideas by delivering new services at instant speed to its users for future success.

Introduction

Google, headquartered in Mountain View California, was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Their mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful (Google's mission is to organize the world's infromation and make it universally accessible and useful.). Google prides themselves by holding true to their belief in regards to privacy, security, and software principles.
