Business sustainability is often defined as managing the triple bottom line which is a process by which companies manage their financial, social and environmental risks, obligations and opportunities. A green business, or sustainable business, can also generally be defined as one that strives to reduce its negative impact on the local environment, community, society or economy while maintaining a profit. Green businesses adopt principles, policies, and practices that improve the quality of life for their customers, their employees, communities, and the environment.

According to (Lorette, 2013), applying green processes to the workplace creates a healthy environment for employees, reduces unnecessary waste and recognizes the role that businesses play in leading the way for social change. For the business that is thinking about going green, a variety of reasons exist to take the plunge. Thus, in a simple word, green business is a business that has overarching business practices that have no negative effect on the environment or economy.

On the other hand, sustainability can be defined as the study of how natural systems function, remain diverse and produce everything it needs for the ecology to remain in balance. As stated by (Mason, 2010), sustainability takes into account how we might live in harmony with the natural world around us, protecting it from damage and destruction. Sustainability is being able to endure and survive in an environment into the future.
