I interviewed Daniel Luna who is in Pre-Professional Health right now as a Junior. His email address is dluna@purdue.edu. 1. He chose the major because it is not specified to one exact classification and it wasn’t Pre-Med. He also enjoys the biology that is involved in the major. 2. There are a lot of chemistry and biology lectures that are generally larger classes of around 200 or more kids. There are also many lab classes because this is a very hands on major. 3. Organic Chemistry was his favorite class because he enjoyed the material and it tied in a lot with what he wants to eventually do with his job. He also added that even though it was difficult he really liked it. 4. Now on the other hand he said that Physics was one of the toughest classes he had to take. His biggest reason was that the material they covered in that class just had no real interest to him. 5. Some of the biggest skills that Daniel said that you need to have very good time management and organizational skills. You also need to have a good knowledge of science and be able to think critically. 6. He is planning on attending Med school and possibly specifying in Pediatrics. Most careers that students go into could be Pediatrician, Pharmacists, other specific types of medical doctor. 7. He has been involved in many clubs and groups that involve an honor society, the pre-med club. There are also many different leadership opportunities that you can become involved in that are related to this major. 8. I asked him what would be one of the best things about his major that he would tell an undecided student like me. His response was that there is a lot of freedom within the major. With just this major there are many, many jobs that a person could choose from.
