The Ford Motor Company is an American multinational automaker headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. It was founded by Henry Ford and incorporated on June 16, 1903.

The company is involved in selling automobiles and commercial vehicles.

Based on the 2010 sales, Ford Motor Company is the second largest automaker in U.S and the fifth largest in the world.

Ford motor Company is the third largest automaker in South America with its main markets as Brazil and Argentina. It also has its assembly plant in Venezuela.

Ford has got stakes in Mazda in Japan, Aston Martin in U.K, Jiangling in China. It also has joint ventures, one in Thailand, one in Turkey and one in Russia.

Ford has operations all over the world which includes North America, South America, Europe, Oceania, East and Southeast Asia, Japan, South and West Asia and also in Africa.

The largest segment with sales in 2012 was from North America which was about 2,748 which is a slight increase from the previous year of 2,686 units in 2011. Sales from South America and Ford Europe showed a decline 8 from 506 units in 2011 to 498 in 2012 and from 1602 to 1353 respectively. Ford Asia/Pacific sales grew by 132 units (in thousands) from 901 in 2011 to 1033 in 2012.

The annual revenue for Ford Motor Company grew in 2011 but again had a decline in 2012 but was still at a higher level as compared to the revenue generated in 2010 from the automotive segment. The financial segment revenue has been on a decline since 2010 and fell down to $7,685 million in 2012 from $9,674 million in 2010.
