Course Description

ENC 1101 is designed to improve your academic writing skills through reading, thinking, writing, revising, and discussing. Writing practice will include various assignments, both in and out of class. Research methods and library skills are introduced and a documented paper is required. Each student is encouraged to use the writing lab to strengthen writing skills. Discussion and research topics are based on assigned reading materials and will come under the umbrella of Economics. The main goal of this course is developing and conveying your own persuasive arguments in a competent, well-documented essay, written with clarity, logic, accuracy and correct grammar and spelling. A student must earn a grade of “C” or higher to meet the requirements of the Gordon rule. See the College Catalog for more details. Grades are based on: attendance and participation, written responses, research paper.
