History of Judaism

In today’s paper, I’m going to be going over the life and importance of a key person in ancient Jewish history. I will be providing explanations of one of key events in the history of Judaism that is connected to the person I choose. Also, while describing details of the person I choose that has to do with any rituals, symbols, or sacred texts that’s associated with Judaism.

Moses

I chose Moses because out of all the examples of the people to choose from I know his story a little better than the rest. Moses was born about around 1500 B.C. He was the child of a Hebrew slave that had to save his life by making a little vessel of papyrus waterproofed with asphalt and pitch which he was put in as a infant to escape an angry Pharaoh that feared that the Hebrew slave was reproducing to fast and grow in numbers to start a revolt to kill or overthrow him. He was chosen to be the leader to lead the slaves out of Israel so his story goes. Moses was educated in a civilization unsurpassed by any people at the time. His training was to prepare him for the throne of Egypt or a high office position. He familiarized himself with the Pharaohs courts and the pomp and grandeur of Egyptian religious worship. Moses was schooled in the writing and literary ideas of the time. He witnessed the administration of justice but later fled from Egypt to marry a daughter of Jethro after killing an Egyptian taskmaster beating a slave.

To all, Moses is pretty well known for the story of the 10 plagues that god sent plague the Egyptians. He was the center of the story because he was the one that god spoke to from behind a burning bush that did not burn. God sent Moses back to Egypt to lead the Hebrew slaves back to the land that was promised by Abraham. After god revealed himself to Moses and revealed his Holy name God anointed Aaron to be the spokes person for Moses to help persuade the people...
