Answer:

The supreme leader Avatolla Khameni afraid of a steep decline in fertility rates , and the experts predicted that Iran’s population growth rate will become zero within 20 years. And when the young generation become old, there are no one can look after them. This demographic problem is not easy to be cure by a short time.

Why is this an economic issue?

Answer:

Since Iran’s economy is not able to afford enough jobs for people, and the wages is lower with the economic, so a lot of young people would not want children. After this young people become old, Iran will have the problem which is growing population aging, and it will become a country which lack of labor force.

People can not get job, it will increase unemployment rate.

What government policies are being put in place encourage births?

Answer:

Hospital delivery stays are now free, and women are allowed longer maternity leave.

The governments has canceled subsidies for condoms and birth control pills and eliminated free vasectomies.

Prompting a doctor formerly specializing in vasectomies to shift to Botox injections.

Parents who actually produce five children are now eligible for a $1,500 bonus.

The series of harsh Western economic sanctions is the source of Iran’s economic troubles.
