Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is known as an anxiety disorder, associated with a life threatening or an emotional trauma. Many Veterans have returned to be diagnosed with this disorder, and many require years of therapy in combination to pharmaceutical interventions (U.S National Library of Medicine, 2014). According to the Veterans Administration approximately 30% of the Veterans have PTSD; this is due in part to many deployments to either Iraq or Afghanistan. Not only do they suffer from this disorder many have dual diagnosis, which require additional therapies in order for them to be addressed.

Stress management is one method here at Community Clinic will assist the client to set various skills they can use in coping stressors, the client will be taught relaxation techniques. This technique involves how to relax the muscles in your body, which will decrease the client’s anxiety levels. Learning how to re breath, is where the client is taught to breathe slow using the abdominal muscles; this will decrease the chance of the client hype venting. Self-talk and constructive intelligent declarations which consist of client writing down positive thoughts and they will can use during a stressful episodes. Teaching the client to be assertive in their words, sentiments and beliefs, is such a way that it doesn’t offend others (U.S National Library of Medicine).

Another method used at Williams Community Clinic is Psychodynamic therapies will teach the client how to uncover their beliefs, emotions, thoughts and that will help the therapist get a glimpse into their life, and how they handle stress. The client will be able to detect the stressor and develop a process they can us to deter the stressor (U.S National Library of Medicine).
