AIT’s Vice President for Academic Affairs has requested the School of Management (SOM) to conceptualize, design and implement the Peer Teaching Review (PTR) & Evaluation. The peer teaching review and evaluation help faculties examine their teaching for purposes of self-improvement, and systematically assess teaching performance as a professional faculty activity in connection with personnel decisions.

Background:

For several years, educational institutions have been reviewing the quality and character of faculty work, and especially how to more appropriately evaluate the activities and tasks of teaching. The peer teaching review is used to evaluate teaching skills of instructors. Peer review of teaching plays two roles: it provides feedback to instructors to enhance and improve their skills as teachers and it provides evaluation of teaching effectiveness for consideration in promotion.

Purpose and Criteria:

The School of Management has established the peer teaching review and evaluation guideline in order to increase productivity, recognition, and performance of instructors. The primary objective of the peer teaching review and evaluation is to provide feedback to instructors in order to improve their teaching quality which is necessary for the success of the school’s educational programs.

In order to improve teaching quality within the School of Management, senior instructors must be provided with a peer teaching review and evaluation at least once per academic year, every two years for Assistant Professor, every four years for Associate Professor, and every eight years for Professor.

Review and Evaluation Methods:
