Fast fashion is a growing and a very competitive business. As a specialist consultant in field of operations management it can said that the competitive edge and strength of your competitors’ like ZARA and H&M always lies in their unique supply chain network practices.

VISIBILITY : First thing that accompany needs is to have a good visibility of the potential market and the goods that are fast moving in accordance with the regions. If this information cannot be maintained or tracked properly it may be a disaster to the company due to the bull-wip effect which generally occurs in the supply chain.Distorted information from one end of a supply chain to the other can lead to

tremendous inefficiencies. Companies can effectively counteract the bullwhip effect by thoroughly

understanding its underlying causes. Industry leaders are implementing innovative strategies that pose

new challenges: 1. integrating new information systems, 2. defining new organizational relationships, and

3. implementing new incentive and measurement systems.

EMPLOYEES: The company should have employees i.e., the designers especially in this field who are passionate about the industry. For example Zara has designers who are of age 25-35 which is a very good sign because in this kind of industry where there is a very less time for the existing fashion before it expires. So, this is one of the competitive edge which we need to be careful with for launching new products and there should be an evacuation plan that needs to be developed for the goods that are not selling in the market. In the case of Zara it is also mentioned that some of the people who are working in their factories are those who did already work as store managers which is a great advantage on selecting the designs that are being developed by the designers and these people can also read the minds of the store managers and find out on what inputs to react on that are being produced by the store managers as they were...
