The Congressman Mauricio G. Domogan (MGD) Cup lasted nearly two months after its opening on June 30, 2003 and was participated by 30 teams representing local business companies, school-based organizations and a number of government agencies.

Using the double round robin elimination, the Cup had been for the promotion of sports not just for recreation and also as a form of lifestyle. “It is giving basketball and sports enthusiasts as an avenue for local residents to display their skills and talents and at the same time serve as a physical fitness activity for everyone, “organizers expressed in their invitation.

In the Open Division, SLU Lions fought long and hard against Gerco Construction, Aurora Hill Patriots, BCF Shields, UB Gatorade, and Evergold Enterprises but failed to outdo their better competitors. Evergold Enterprises snatched the open division crown from the UB Gatorade in a very disheartening one-point lead in favor of the Evergold Enterprises, 92-91.

The women’s team prepared itself to match the Tiong San Dragons, UB Cardinals, and Blue Aerials, 57-54, to land third place.

“We are in it for the experience and winning effort. Main focus pa rin naming ay ang BEAl; good exposure ang Domogan,” said Coach Robert Dacanay.

Employees Division gave light to the dark side of SLU delegates when the SLU employees’ five-man team placed a huge 17-point lead against the City Hall, 101-84. SLU proudly bagged 3rd place in Bracket C.
