According to the book Business Research Methods, business research is defined as a systematic inquiry that provides information to guide managerial decisions (Cooper & Schindler, 2006). The purpose of this paper is to analyze how the research process is employed by Robert Half International. Robert Half International is one of the world’s first and largest specialized staffing companies (Robert Half, 2011). Robert Half places employees on temporary, temporary-to-hire, and full-time positions in multiple career fields. With more than 350 locations worldwide comes a responsibility to maintain cost and supply services needed by a variety of partners. To stay competitive extensive research is required that covers almost every aspect of staffing and career management.

Company Practices

Robert Half uses a face-to-face interview method for all of its candidates worldwide. The problem that this company faces is a way to standardizing the way in which interviewers use and interpret interview results (Wiechmann, Ryan, & Hemingway, 2003). This is a question that each organization must answer successfully to achieve its objectives and goals. To achieve this organizations are trying to standardize the ways in which interviews use and interpret interview results (Wiechmann, Ryan, & Hemingway, 2003). Organizations are using educational programs to train human resources (HR) personnel on the tools used, why these tools are used, and how to interpret and use these results. In addition, intranet sites provides interviewers with various tool formats, tips on interviewing, and legal issues regarding interviews for the country in which the company is located (Wiechmann, Ryan, & Hemingway, 2003).
