1. Introduction

The purpose of this assignment is to conduct a purposeful survey and probe into the SABMiller’s business environment with the aim of critically analyzing its strategies, in identifying threats and opportunities in order to counter or capitalize on them respectively. SABMiller is one of the world’s leading brewers, with more than 200 beer brands and some 70,000 employees in over 75 countries and their vision is to be the most admired company in the global beer industry. This then requires them to demonstrate the “highest standards of transparency, ethics and corporate governance” (Company Snapshot 2011, 2011 ). Organizations can no longer do business for the sole purpose of making a profit. If the organization does not take the environment into account in doing business, or if the community’s needs are not being addressed, the organization will not survive and its future sustainability can not be assured or guaranteed.
