Homosexuality is defined as a romantic and/or sexual attraction or behavior between members of the same sex or gender. Many Countries and States here in the U.S still do not recognize homosexuality as being equal to man and woman therefore a lot of sexual orientation discrimination is happening. This includes being treated differently or harassed because of their real or perceived sexual orientation -- whether gay, lesbian, bisexual, or heterosexual. Currently, there are only 10 Countries who have legalized same-sex marriage, and only in six states in the United States. These forms of harassment and discrimination is very rampant everywhere, which includes the workplace. Different Cultures and Religions have different stands and opinions on homosexuality. Some have been more accepting of this new phenomenon, while some have continuously condemned it. Some would also say that the Western countries have a more open-mind to these things compared to African and Asian Countries. A few years ago, a Ugandan newspaper published a list of the top 100 Homosexuals in their country and pretty much tagged them as outcasts and criminals. This created a global uproar as many people thought this went over the line of something with principles. This situation was even tackled in the United Nations.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to be able to make a living, whether they are heterosexual or homosexual. Unfortunately at present, there are very few laws to protect homosexuals against being persecuted at work. Being gay in a straight society is a difficult task, as rejection comes from all sides.
