INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL – Required Schwalbe, K. (2011). Information technology project management. (6th revised ed.). Boston: Course Technology-Cengage. Microsoft Project version 2003 or greater is required for this course. The text comes with a 60day trial version. Open source options such as OpenProj or dotProject can be used as an alternative. The Microsoft Office Suite is required for this course, specifically, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL – Supporting The following resources provide additional background and supporting information for this course. There is no need to purchase these items for the course. The textbook and course learning outcomes are aligned around the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)-Fourth Edition. Additional resources are available at www.pmi.org. Microsoft Visio 2003 version or greater is recommended for this course. Open source alternatives such as Dia can be used as an alternative to complete drawings.

COURSE DESCRIPTION This course provides a practical and theoretical foundation for applying project management activities to information technology projects. Emphasis is placed on how the systems development life cycle, prototyping, rapid application development, and acquiring and maintaining systems are managed and used in Enterprise System solutions. COURSE OUTCOMES Upon the successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Describe the knowledge and processes areas of project management in accordance to the Project Management Institute Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) Guide. 2.
