Decision of Uncertainty Paper

Decision: Should I further my education by pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA)? I have always wanted to accomplish my goal of completing my education and further my career. I completed my school degree nearly 20 years ago and jumped directly into the corporate world with the decision to enter college later. I began to increase my educational learning by attending community college a few years after high school. I graduated with my two-year degree and decided to take a break. During this break I have seen many promotions come and go within my company. The requirements always included a Master’s degree.

Research:

I began to rate the value of my degree. I took into consideration the benefits of the degree: the influential benefits, the personal benefits, and the financial benefits.

Influential Benefits –

An MBA degree will provide me with various career opportunities. This degree is also necessary to get jobs in upper level positions such as management and executive level jobs. According to the MBA Salary Facts website the typical MBA student made $40,000 before receiving an MBA degree almost 90,000 after the first year of receiving an MBA that is more than a 50% increase. An MBA average starting annual salary is $11,000 more than the average starting salary of other college graduates (Murray, 2006).

Personal Benefits –

An MBA degree involves a wide area of teaching, projects, presentations, and group exercises to give the necessary skills to handle real-life business issues. This can help to distinguish me from those without such expertise and make me a frontrunner in my field.
