Within this article “Superhero in the Cubicle”, they mentioned different types of technology which are helping business people cope with the ever ending list of increasing demands and workload. One such tool is an interactive spreadsheet provided by Smartsheet.com. With our global expansion and multi-language companies this tool allows one company to offer multi languages in the same document to prevent multiple documents translated into multiple languages. They were able to add one column for English and one for French to accommodate both groups of people. Another tool discussed was IBM Lotus Connections by Big Blue, which offers record-keeping, blogging, email and instant messaging services. Web 2.0 Mashup Server software by Kapow Technology, Near Tim and Confulence are offered by Atlassian to allow better collaboration between multiple employees.

The primary focus of all of these new technologies is to help manage projects across different locations and groups of employees. These allow collaboration tools that have never been available in the past. They offer easy storage and retrieval of data for all needs. In my own job these tools would be very helpful and we already use options that are similar to make us more productive and allow collaboration across states with ease. The business world today must adapt to the changes and offer improved technology in order to stay competitive within their given markets. Although many companies offer some of these tools in one version or another they are not as popular as one would think, some businesses still prefer old school technology.
