Great elaboration Mark, if I may add, in reference to your personal use of computers and or shopping online, one must be aware and very cautious of the phishing tactics of various assailants. Often times, these swindles are sent or transpired through downloads and Emails by the attacker, with no way to track the original sender. I agree with your perception of understanding how to protect self, while conducting business online. Scandals such as the TJX occurrence happens more than the avid consumer knows about, its just the companies that choose to share the information that there database has been compromised, heightens ones sense of purpose in regards to the security of personal as well as financial credentials. For self, not to say that the whole TJX scandal was due to improper business practices, but they were still using (WEP) when (WAP) was available and (WEP) is easy for hackers to crack. I do not want to be the one to say that they were asking for it, but if they were not making the necessary steps to keeps its customer’s credentials secure, how would they even counter attack a virus or interference that the public or personnel within the company itself knows about? From a personal standpoint and as a consumer of AJWright and TJMAXX (TJX Companies), I did not enjoy learning about the scandals that took place, I was actually worried, especially since I have made host of purchases between the two stores with my Debit/Credit Card. My stand on the situation Mark is, although we as consumers are properly informed and well aware of the risk involoved with shopping online, if the stores we shop at are not doing there part, or upholding the standards of an information policy, consumers are losing all of the way around the board. This is the reason I make ‘high-dollar purchases” in a bricks-and -mortar type of establishment only.
