When dealing with any type of company or organization there are many factors that come into play. The foundation of the company or organization would be its culture. Organizational culture is the assumptions, values and beliefs which sort of governs the company how the company response to situations. Another factor that comes into play is organizational structure. Organizational Structure is the formal decision making framework by which task are divided and coordinated. Last but certainly not lease when dealing with an organization there is a lot of power and politics that take place. Power is defined as the capacity or potential to influence others ( McShane & VonGlinow, 2005, p.3). Politics are the tactics used to influence others. In the organization called Good Sports all of these factors come in to play.

Good Sports is an organization that is based in Coral Springs, Florida. This organization was founded by Jason Poole fifteen years ago. The company manufactures fitness equipment such as treadmills, bikes, steppers, and rowers. Good Sports has expanded in the last four years. The expansion focuses on investments in improving the performance of the sales, production, along with the research and development teams.

There are many types of organizational structures. The must common types are functional, matrix, and line organizations (Christine Jahn, 2001). Good Sports can be described as a functional organization (Christine Jahn, 2001). This type of organization is solely based on functional performance (Christine Jahn, 2001). This function is created in order to fulfill the functions of the organization such as marketing, fiancé, and personnel (Christine Jahn, 2001). Going along the same lines as organizational structure is organizational culture.
