Multicultural Experience Paper

The Lucky Asian Buffet is an Asian buffet located in Ohio. The buffet has been in business for a short amount of time, and has become rather popular in the Darke County area. I had never eaten at an Asian Buffet, and chose to eat their in May of 2012. My experience went well, and fulfilled my curiosity of Asian foods.

The Lucky Asian Buffet is located at 521 Wagner Avenue, Greenville, Ohio. The Lucky Asian Buffet is a private owned restaurant in one single location (Manta, 2012). The restaurant opened a little over a year ago, and has been quite popular. The restaurant serves various amounts of Asian foods in a buffet, and menu’s to order foods, and drinks. I have heard a mix of good and bad reviews about the restaurant. The reviews from the people that I knew made me curious, and want to find out for myself.

I had never been to an Asian Restaurant, but have been to many other restaurants that are different than my culture. When I first heard about the Asian Restaurant I immediately thought it would be similar to the Chinese Restaurant that I had been to. I assumed that the price range would be about the same as most buffets that I have gone to. I was nervous about trying food that I had never eaten before. I was also nervous that if the waiters were Asian that they would be difficult to understand. My friend Elizabeth Walters (personal communication, May 1, 2012) had went recently and told me “The food is really good and fresh” From previous mixed reviews my curiosity had grown.

I wanted to do research of Asian foods before I decided to go to the Asian Buffet. I had learned about a few popular dishes. Satay is a popular Asian dish that consists of meat on a stick roasted over a charcoal fire (Chris, 2008). Nasi Goreng is another name for fried rice is another popular dish in Asian restaurants (Chris, 2008). In most cases Nasi Goreng is cooked with coconut sauce and eaten with vegetables, and meat (Chris, 2008).
