3. What are two of the most significant terms discussed in class thus far and why?

In my opinion the two most important things that we have discussed thus far is “cool” and “violence”. I feel these are the most important things because they are a part of our everyday life. Everybody wants to be cool and at the same time the majority of people like to see violence no matter if they like it or not, I will explain what I mean later.

To start I ask what is cool? I went to the web site http://dictionary.reference.com/ to look up the definition of cool. The definition I was looking for was under the slang definition:

1. Slang.

a. Excellent; first-rate: has a cool sports car; had a cool time at the party.

b. Acceptable; satisfactory: It's cool if you don't want to talk about it.

Definition b. gives the best example of what we are looking for, to be cool one is sociably acceptable. But cool is divided into groups and no one person is cool to everyone, so cool is an opinion. The reason that I think that cool is one of the most important things we have discussed is because like I said above it is a part of everyday part of life and that there is a never ending quest for individuals to be accepted by everyone.

People urn for violence, I say this because it gives people a sense of excitement and as I remember from psychology 101 the same endorphins are released when one is engaged in a physical encounter as well as when one is engaged in a sexual encounter. The two basic instincts of every human being in nature are survival and procreation. I say this...
