Over the last 3 weeks I have conducted extensive research on the worlds largest consumer goods company Proctor and Gamble. Some of the subjects already covered include, SWOT analysis, benchmarking and the financial heath of P&G. In this weeks document I will be concluding my business analysis covering how recent economic trends are influencing P&G. I will also be discussing strategies that P&G has used for adapting to changing markets, followed up with tactics the company has implemented to achieve their strategic goals and the role human resource management plays in helping P&G achieve its business goals.

Going Green

Recent economic trends are influencing businesses all the time. P&G considers that the industry, shoppers and government all have roles to play in addressing climate change and that sensible cost-effective actions to diminish greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere are essential. (GAMBLE, 2011) P&G focuses on two areas on this issue. The first is decreasing the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions from their own operations through unremitting energy efficiency measures throughout their facilities. (Essays) To ensure the proper steps are being taken P&G has outlined these areas of focus as follows.

1. Continuing to transition fuel sources toward cleaner alternatives.

2. Continuing to drive more energy-efficient modes of transporting finished products to their customers.

3. Setting goals to drive continued improvement in their GHG emissions.

The second focus consist of helping consumers to condense their own GHG emissions through the use of their products through:

1. Product and packaging innovations that enable more efficient consumer product use and energy consumption.
