Use the following timeline or create a timeline of your own with eight major events, including the four provided below, from the last 50 years. You may change the dates in the box to match the dates of your events. Include the following in your timeline:

| |The CDC was started in Atlanta, Georgia focusing on fighting the spread of malaria from |

| |mosquitoes. In 1970 the center changed its name to the Centers for Disease Control and |

| |Prevention. |

|1965 |Medicare/Medicaid |

| |Medicare and Medicaid are federally funded health insurance programs administered by the |

| |Health Care Finance Administration (HCFA). Medicare was enacted to provide health care |

| |services to the elderly and disabled and Medicaid was created to provide services for |

| |low-income people. |
