Everyone should be treated with courtesy and respect, regardless of their racial background, their nation of origin, the religion they practice, their sexual orientation, gender or disability status. It is the right of all citizens to pursue their daily lives with the knowledge that they will not be physically harmed or verbally abused.

I am a Caucasian female. Most of the community I live in looks like me unless they are male. I am the typical blond surfer girl type who lives in Huntington Beach California, surfing capital of the United States. I work a very demanding job as a human resources administrator Monday through Friday. I sleep in on Saturdays while my husband golf’s and I go to church on Sundays. I love the beach and will never live anywhere else. My community is known as the Party Capital of California. The community I live in is majority white. There are several types of tourists that visit my community year round but do not live here. The summer is crawling with every race there is. We all get along and have a wonderful great time.

Outside of the tourist seasons, the community is hard at work to maintain a nonracial community. The Huntington Beach Human Relations Task Force (HRTF) promotes and celebrates diversity in our community through education and understanding. The Huntington Beach community-wide effort to promote human dignity is an important element in building a better place. The HRTF works with the police department daily to enforce and monitor any incidents that could be classified as hate crimes in our community.
