Profile and History of Prudential Financial, Inc.

Founded in 1875 by insurance agent John Fairfield Dryden in a basement office in downtown Newark, N.J, Prudential Financial, Inc. became the first company in the US to make life insurance available to the working class. The company provided Industrial Insurance for low-income families with funeral and burial expenses. Four years later, the company extended and began to provide insurance for middle class. For more than 135 years Prudential Financial Inc. demonstrated to keep the promises and commitments they make and built the company on the proud heritage of life insurance and asset management expertise. Today, Prudential Financial Inc. is one of the world’s largest financial services institutions with operations in United States, Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Prudential Financial, Inc. companies include the Prudential Insurance Company of America, one of the largest life insurance companies in the US. The company focuses on helping individual and institutional customers grow and protect their wealth. Prudential Financial, Inc. provides principal businesses through three divisions: the US Retirement Solutions and Investment management Division, the US Individual Life and Group Insurance Division and the International Insurance Division. Additionally, they also provide services in Corporate and Other operations.

The US Retirement Solutions and Investment management Division provides investment management and advisory services, as well as offering individual annuities and retirement plans for the US mass affluent market and non-profit organizations. The US individual Life and Group Insurance Division provides Individual Life Insurance and Group Insurance for different coverage. The last division, International Insurance Division is to manufacture and distribute individual life insurance to the mass affluent and affluent markets in Japan, Korea and other countries through its Life Planner operations.
