The Difference in Judaism

There are many religions that can offer spiritual guidance. However, Judaism is one of the oldest religions that stand out the most, but how different is it from other religions? In a previous interview with Doctor Mathew Sydel a Rabbi of the Bethel Synagogue of Israel in West Hartford, CT. During the interview process Rabbi Sydel was asked to elaborate his knowledge based on a serious of interview questions in hopes to understand the difference of this old ancient religion compared to the religions today. Rabbi Sydel explains that during his life time he experienced a higher calling that ultimately shaped his decision to become a Rabbi. Rabbi Sydel’s vision statement is to serve the lifelong spiritual and educational needs of his Jewish community and the surrounding neighbors, within a welcoming and caring, contemporary Reform Jewish Community for everyone. Rabbi Sydel’s vision is for Jewish community to be that vehicle/home for our personal exploration, spiritual life, and engagement in the world where there is no value for human life. Rabbi Sydel goal is to reach out to many communities where members are empowered to be each other’s angels in hopes to live better lives how God intended us to lead. There are angels within our midst, make no mistake about it. There are angels who bring food regularly to homebound congregants, who teach our children, who, without any recognition, regularly help members who just can’t make it on their own like they used to. There are angels in our midst who fight for justice and show what compassion really is. Rabbi Sydel explains that’s what this place is all about. We are here today, we are all here today, because of the angels, the messengers from God, who make life bearable, who make us who we are.
