Affirmative Action for the Disabled

Abstract

This paper is to inform other s that being a disabled veteran does not disqualify you from getting a job when someone else has a better skill or is better qualified for the job. Being a disabled veteran has many positive sides when it comes to an employer looking for employees. Disabled veterans have diversity, commitment and have the ability to adapt to work.

Affirmative Action for the Disabled

Disabled veterans should receive preferential treatment from the government because the Disabled Veterans Affirmative Action Program (DVAAP) is a conglomeration minority and members of this minority have suffered mentally, physically or emotionally. DVAAP candidates should receive this benefit over better qualified candidates because of their commitment to the military, to give them the chance to prove themselves capable of continuing to work, and disabled veterans already have worked in a diverse workplace.

Disabled veterans have sacrificed their time, ligaments, families, etc. to the military service. When they stated the Oath of Enlistment and signed the military contract, they knew they may be going to war. The only thing that a soldier thinks when he or she is about to be deployed is what is going to change in one year. Soldiers always think that they are going to make it back alive. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that they are going to go over to die or become injured. They all believe they are all coming back in one piece. When a soldier becomes injured and cannot perform their duties to military standard they are chaptered out of the military and expected to find a job out on the economy. If disabled veterans did not get a first look before anyone else, some people would frown upon the business that did not hire the injured soldier, even though another person has all of his limbs...
