JONES-BLAIR Company engages in the research, manufacture, and marketing of decorative, protective, and elastomeric coating solutions. The company provides acrylic-urethane, air dye alkyd enamel, catalyzed epoxy, latex, zinc-rich, and specialty coatings, as well as primers. Its products are used in maintenance, oil-field service, automotive parts, off-road equipment, transportation, coil coating, service station imaging, storefronts and signs, wood/millwork, recreation, and construction industries. The company offers its products through a network of distributors in the United States. JONES-BLAIR Company was founded in 1928 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

The U.S. paint industry is a maturing industry estimated to have over $13 billion in sales in 1999. The US paint market is divided into three segments: architectural coatings, original equipment manufacturing (OEM) coatings, and special-purpose coatings makes up 22% (Appendix A). Architectural coatings make up the majority of U.S. paint sales. About 50% of architectural coatings sales came from do-it-yourselfers and 25% came from professional painters (Appendix A). Jones-Blair Company is a small company that produces and markets premium priced architectural paints under their Jones-Blair brand. Jones-Blair's total sales were $12 million in 1999.
